SWOT and Reccomendations

Strengths
They are a global manufacturer of technical products and specialty materials.They have a large presence with a wide range of operations in over 15 countries.

Weaknesses
They’re largest market is in aerospace and defense and they need to focus on more markets to prepare for future shifts in the market.

Opportunities
Joint ventures have proven to be successful in expanding ATI’s market by allowing them to provide to new groups of clients.

Threats
Some of ATI’s next largest markets include oil and gas so they will need to find ways to provide for opening renewable energy markets to avoid losing profit.
This company like many international companies is subject to shifts to more local markets due to taxes, shipping costs, and resources.

Recommendation

ATI has tremendous potential to continue to grow as a company. They have already been making good decisions, expanding their reach and acquiring new skills in other facets of  the industry. They face a changing world where shifting markets may leave some of their current strong suits behind, but their range of products and operations can be applied in new ways for technologies that may not even necessarily exist yet. This combined with their already future and social responsibility centered ideals will set them up for becoming a provider of components of future generations if they can apply their technologies to growing fields of interest. A way they could go about doing this is by focusing on more human centered design. This concept was discussed by Bill from Luma Institute and it's the idea that not only the business should be benefitting from the innovations they make but all people.
